If there's a place in Vietnam that I would like to go for a retreat, it would have to be Trúc Lâm Temple, a Zen Buddhist temple outside the resort town of Da Lat. There were monks and nuns there, some 100 of them at least but we didn't get to see them for their quarters were out of bounds to tourists. The temple grounds occupy a vast area of 24 hectares and a great part was green. Standing at approximately 1300 m above sea level, the temple overlooks Benhuit mountain and Tuyền Lâm Lake. There was a big, manicured garden which we found delight in and just before the rain fell, we managed to take a walk over to the lake and had a peek ...nice place!
