Children Dhamma: Give your child a Rosary
The late Rev. Abhinyana once said in a Buddhist temple in Simpang, Taiping that children ought to be exposed to all the world religions. It would be ideal if a child is to have access to a library of books with all the religious information and then, finally he ought to be given the freedom to choose his own religion. I do still think however, that a child should not be allowed to grope on his own; just like a man needs a shepherd, so does a child need someone to guide him and that would have to be the parents especially if they want to see their children walk the path they approve of. Give a child his freedom to choose his religion if you deem fit but provide him the light of truth too if there is one. Give him a rosary when he is young and there is less chances that he will hold a sword or a gun when he is old. I am sure children have to taught the Dhamma and should one start with the Jataka tales? I suppose these stories are more suitable for the children, aren't they or are they for the wise?

I agree that exposing children to more than one religion would be beneficial. Sadly, many religions stifle diversity through the pounding a single dogma created to prevent the congregation from straying.
The more we understand different viewpoints, the more informed opinions we can develop. Religion throughout history has been used for both good and evil purposes. This is where the importance of guiding our children comes in.
