Changing Skin

Our skin begins to age from birth. It is commonly known that from the 20s to mid-30s, sebaceous and sweat glands make the skin oily and teenagers especially may suffer acne or spots. However, babies can suffer from acne too. Before birth, the maternal hormones cross the placenta into the baby's blood stream, resulting in newborns having a temporary skin condition called infant acne. Later, in the late 30s, skin colour alters slightly and the skin is not as springy or elastic and fine lines begin to appear. The skin becomes thinner at 40s and older. It becomes drier and more uneven too and if a person has exposed himself or herself to the sun regularly during his or her youth, the lines that already exist may deepen especially around the eyes and mouth. Take care of your skin!
