Jonathan's message reminded me of the late Lin Yu Tang. I remember his international acclaimed book, The Importance of Living (生活的藝術,生活的艺术). Lin Yu Tang's father was a Christian minister and he himself, was brought up as a Christian. He was to be trained as a minister too but the death of a relative, probably an aunt had disrupted his plan. During the aunt's funeral, it had rained heavily and the family had prayed to God to stop the rain so that the funeral could proceed smoothly. The rain did stopped and the family rejoiced in having their prayer answered. However, that got Lin thinking: If God is kind to his family by stopping the rain so that they could proceed with their plan, could He be also kind to all other families simultaneously? I bet most probably, other families would need the rain as badly. Lin Yu Tang's journey of faith from Christianity to Taoism and Buddhism thus started and it is interesting to note that in his later life, the famous author went back to Christianit as was recorded in his book From Pagan to Christian . Probably, it would need a mind like Jonathan's to live a happier life.
