A Little Dhamma

I have always enjoyed stories of saints sitting in caves or on the peak of a mountain, seeking for the truth and lo, some angels or some kind of higher beings appeared suddenly from nowhere to bring the good news! This is very different from the Dhamma, the truth taught by Buddha. Somewhere I read, the awakening about Dhamma does not come like a bolt out of the blue especially to the untrained or unprepared mind. An ocean is said to have a gradual shelf, a gradual slope, a gradual inclination and a sudden drop-of after a long strectch. The Dhamma similarly, unfolds gradually. It culminates a long journey of many stages which include a gradual training, a gradual performance, a gradual progression... Perhaps, my Awakening may take more than a lifetime...
