Once, I heard of people lamenting on the evil of music.Buddhist monks undertake at least 227 precepts and one of them, I heard is to abstain from it. According to Sir Edwin Arnold's Light of Asia , Buddha once drew inspiration from some dancers. These dancers were singing joyfully:
Fair goes the dancing when the Sitar is tuned,
Tune us the Sitar neither low nor high,
And we will dance away the hearts of men.
The string overstretched breaks, the music dies,
The string overslack is dumb and the music dies,
Tune us the Sitar neither low nor high.
Buddha heard their song and heard a message full of profound spiritual significance. He realised then that one should not go to extremes in torturing the body by starvation and that one should adopt the middle path by avoiding extremes. Now, is music such an evil thing then unless of course, one want to see the evil in it, just like one is bound to see some in these musical notes of Foreplay Music from Gordon and George....

See any evil yet?
