In the Net, it was reported that in America, the FDA had charged Matrixx, the makers of Zicam with selling products that robbed people of their sense of smell. The FDA had warned consumers not to use three Zicam intranasal products, Zicam Cold Remedy Nasal Gel, Zicam Cold Remedy Nasal Swabs, and Zicam Cold Remedy Swabs because the products may cause a loss of sense of smell. Is this the same as Vinaya or the rules of discipline for monks? Among the Ten Precepts for the monks, the seventh and eight require them to refrain from observing dancing, singing and other entertainment and to refrain from wearing garlands, scents or ornaments. Will these in any way rob them of their sense of the dhamma?
