To kill a Mocking Bird

Once, it was reported that officers from the Malaysian Islamic Development Department (Jakim) raided a chicken slaughtering centre at a wet market in Kuala Lumpur and found that it did not not adhere to Islamic practices. Chickens were not slaughtered through the halal process. Somewhere else, it is written that Buddhism has less rigid dietary laws defining what people can eat and with whom they can eat. I suppose too, then, there is no special law on how a chicken or any other animal should be slaughtered. Afterall, the first of the Buddhist five precepts, Pāātipātā veramaī sikkhāpada samādiyāmi, which means I undertake the training rule to abstain from taking life, suggest that thou should not kill and that should have meant too that neither chicken nor any other animals should be slaughtered. Never mind the method - killing is killing. As you ponder over this, ponder too over the halal way of slaughtering a chicken, won't you? Watch this funny video by Liew Seng Tat!
