Zen in Avatar

There's a touch of Zen in James Cameron's latest science fiction epic film, Avatar. The breathtaking floating Hallelujah Mountains in Pandora, the fictitious moon inhabited by the fictitious blue-skinned humanoid race, Na'vi, as a matter of fact, were inspired by the Chinese Huang Shan mountains. Earthlings, referred to as the Sky People by the Na'vi, were in Pandora to exploit the minerals and were at odds with the Na'vi. Perhaps, it rings a bell in your Zen mind when the beautiful alien Neytiri told the paraplegic earthling Marine Jake Sully that the Sky People could not be taught because they were full when they ought to be empty. It is not easy to understand or to accept too that Jake Sully could easily exist as a paraplegic earthling at one moment and switch on to become an adept Na'vi-like avatar in the next; just like it is not easy to think that his consciousness could be transplanted into his avatar by the Tree of Souls. Not unless you believe in rebirth or in this case, reincarnation, since earlier there was an attempt to transplant Sigourney Weaver's Dr. Grace Augustine's soul in her avatar. Rebirth supposedly has nothing to do with soul.
