It was all quiet when we woke up in SSB. A perfect place for a retreat no doubt but when it was after Vesak celebration, with the devotees and all the pomp and gaiety gone, SSB was all too quiet for comfort. I suppose that has to do with this attachment one has; and in this case,we have, the I or the attacher, to which is attached this feeling of not being alone when devotees and fun are around. The Buddha, I read, taught that seeing oneself and everything else this way is a delusion which is a cause of our unhappiness. Perhaps, it would help then to forget about Vesak Night and get to some serious work - clearing up what was left of the lamps for that was why we were there in the first place.
