The paper reported that Malaysia’s two motorsport bigwigs , Proton Holdings Bhd and Lotus Racing Formula One team are going to fight it out in the British courts over the rights to the Team Lotus name. Just like Team Lotus is an iconic name in the motorsport world, the lotus must be an icon in Buddhism. The lotus in fact, is one of the Ashtamangala or Eight Auspicious Symbols which is said to be but a group of Buddhist symbols. In this case, the lotus represent mental and spiritual purity. The roots of a lotus grows in the mud and when the stem grows up through the water to bloom and bask in the sunlight, it signifies the progress of the soul from the primeval mud of materialism, through the waters of experience, and into the bright light of enlightenment.
