Spirits

In Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Mohamad, a 48-year-old technician complained to the Education Ministry that her 10-year-old daughter was molested because the school she attended failed to keep security tight. At about 8.15am, his daughter had gone out from the classroom to go to the toilet. A man in his 20s had suddenly entered the toilet. He grabbed her, tied her mouth and used a sarong to carry her over the school's back wall before riding off with her on his motorcycle to some bushes nearby where he molested the girl. At about 9am, the teachers at the school noticed the girl missing. They asked the school's ustaz i.e the religious teacher if the girl had been taken away by spirits. Spirits, some people think are energies which are invisible to human eyes while some think are angels that are programmed to deal with the basic functions of lower living things and when failed in their purpose, become demons. All these made me wonder what are spirits according to Buddhism...It is not in the precepts, I suppose...
