Rāhula, as you know, was the only son of Siddhartha Gautama, the man who later became the Buddha. Buddha had once asked his son: What is a mirror for?, to which the latter had answered that it is for reflection. Buddha, had then expounded that in a similar way, one should reflect on one's bodily acts, verbal acts and mental acts. One should reflect on whether one's acts bring about painful consequences. Acts which bring about painful consequences would be considered unskillful and should not be performed. Reflecting on this, you may want to teach your child the way Buddha taught his.
