Homeschooling or home school, defined as the education of children at home, typically by parents or by tutors, rather than in other formal settings of public or private school, said to be legal overseas and especially popular in the United
States of America, reportedly has caught up in Malaysia. Well-off parents reportedly have turned to private schools and others
have opted for church-affiliated learning centers. Accordingly, two home schooling networks are said to exist in Malaysia, Muslim home schools and those based on Christian principles. The deputy director of one of such home school based on Christian principles in Johor Bahru, Cornerstone Centre for Excellence Malaysia (CCEM), Evelyne Tan said that the school was set up as a contribution of the church to nation building. She has this to say: “We want to see well educated leaders with integrity raised to serve and contribute to the development of Malaysia.” One just can't admire the Christian spirit. Now where goes the Buddhist home school and the Buddhist spirit?
