Things you ought to know

Today is Vesak Day. According to Singapore Infopedia, there are five things one has to know about this Buddhist festival.
  •  Vesak, Day commemorates the birth, enlightenment and nirvana of Siddharta Gautama..
  • Vesak Day falls on different day  depending on the lunar calendars used in different culture
  • Buddhists usually visit  temples for ceremonies on Vesak Day.
  • Releasing caged birds and animals is a common practice on this day.
  • Vesak Day was made a public holiday in Singapore only  in 1955 after many public petitions.
I wonder if Singapore Infopedia places any emphasis on the Buddhist Five Precepts for laymen.
