A giant paper effigy of Da Shi Ye or Guardian God of Ghosts or King of Ghosts was burned in Pudu, Kuala Lumpur on Monday, 13 August. The Hungry Ghost Festival 鬼 節 is here again! Ghost Festival supposedly has a Buddhist origin when Buddha instructed one of his closest disciples, Maudgalyayana, to offer food and gifts to monks and monasteries on the fifteenth day of the seventh month. Not sure if there were other instructions.
