Look Away!

This I received through WhatsApp : The dhamma practice is all about watching the mind and watching the body so that we see that everything that arises is impermanent.  Don't know much about the mind; but watching the body can mean something else. For one thing, it can turn some people on. Coincidentally, there is this interesting piece of local new; some people seemed to have complained about flight attendants and their uniforms being indecent and distracting and all that. The Transport Minister Anthony Loke advised these people who find these flight attendants’ uniforms to be too revealing to simply look away. Marvellous idea, I thought. In Buddhism, desires and bad thoughts are said to stem from our senses. In the Fire Sermon, the Blessed one said: The eye, ear, nose, tongue, body and the mind is burning. All forms, sounds, smells, flavours, touches, and mental states are also burning! Whatever kind of conscious sensation that is also burning! Any feeling arisen caused by that contact, whether pleasant, painful or neutral, that too is also burning... Burning with what? I tell you: Burning with the fire of lust, hate & ignorance, birth, ageing, death, sadness, disappointment, frustration, and suffering!  I'm tempted to add: If you can help it, just look away. Problem solved. QED
