While touted the third largest city in New Zealand, I remember back in the 90s, Christchurch was just a quiet, idyllic place which someone told me resembles the English neighbourhood in the United kingdom. Of course, like everyone else, I was rather surprised to read about the recent attack on a mosque there by a white youngster which resulted in about 50 deaths. Prior to the tragedy, the youngster who identified himself as a member of online far-right extremist networks reportedly sent a manifesto via email to the Prime Minister Office and an 87-page page anti-immigrant and anti-Muslim document on social media. The young man seemed to work alone but even if it was a plot by an organised group, the manifesto and document he sent said it, Mind is the forerunner.
