How many sense organs are there? Five, according to the western world: eyes, ears, tongue, skin, and nose. Six , according to Buddhism and other Indian epistemologies. And the six organs come with their respective sense base:
- eye and visible objects
- ear and sound
- nose and odor
- tongue and taste
- body and touch
- mind and mental objects the likes of feelings, perceptions and volition
