I remember vaguely a trailer of a Shaw's movie featuring rogue monks, skilful in kung fu, who kidnap young girls and keep them captive. Thought it was the first coloured wuxia movie Temple of the Red Lotus trilogy featuring Chin Ping, Wang Yu and Ivy Ling Po but then of course, I'm not really sure; just that, there were rogue monks in real life in the past. History had it that the old city of Ayutthaya which was founded by King Ramathibodi I was captured by the Burmese in 1569. During the last days of the ancient Ayutthaya Kingdom, after the Burmese had left; besides generals and royalties, rogue monks were known to take advantage of the situation, proclaiming independence and claiming provinces for themselves. Supposedly there are rogue monks today, what would they probably indulge in?
