Thankful to the Monks and Temples

Someone wrote about the futility of going to temples. He said after having listened up to about 3,000 teachings in a period of 30 years, he  thought it was a waste of his time and the monks as he had not remember a single teaching. Someone else wrote about having married for 30 years and and having eaten some 32,000 meals cooked by his wife, yet not remembering the entire menu for a single one of those meals. He was however thankful that the meals gave him the strength needed to do his work; otherwise he would be physically dead. I suppose likewise, he was thankful to the monks and temples for not spiritually dead.
