Perhaps Pessimistic

Just the other day,  some of my friends and I were given a task, to create our personal budget; that's a finance plan that allocates future personal income towards expenses, savings and debt repayment. In planning the budget, one is supposed to have a goal. There was a question about our expectations in 10 years time and one of my friends answered that she would have retired by then. I supposed her income would decrease then and her personal budget would change accordingly. In 10 years too, some plan for a car, a bigger car, a house, a bigger house or things like that; but never, never for once does anyone think that in 10 years time, one would probably not exist anymore. In planning a personal budget, one is also supposed to plan for the unexpected. Most probably that includes death too or do you perhaps think of this as being pessimistic?
