In the past, when there's no Internet to talk of, people send cards to wish friends and relatives during birthdays and festive seasons. I don't remember people sending cards during Vesak Day though. With the advent of Internet however, each year during Vesak, it has become a norm that people send short video clips. This year, I was surprised to receive one which opens with a birthday song. Then again, I shouldn't be; surprised, I mean since isn't Vesak Day is a day to commemorate not just the enlightenment and passing away of the Buddha but his birth as well? Happy birthday, Buddha and everyone else, happy Vesak!
