Buddha, I once read categorized friends into four types. In the Sigalovada Sutta, it was said that they are the helper, the enduring friend, the mentor, and the compassionate friend. These are good friends of course. In a video clip, an Indian author Shiv Khera talks about four types of friends too; friends of convenience, friends of usefulness, friends with a common enemy and friends who respect each other. Maybe all these could be simplified further. Just two types probably. One can either be a friend or not a friend. In a worse scenario, a person who is not a friend is considered a foe.
Just watch this, won't you?
