One would recognize a Buddhist monk by the robe he wears, I'm sure; but would you recognize an Upāsaka or Upāsikā by his or her attire? Upāsaka or Upāsikā are lay devotees; not monks, nuns, or novice monastics but lay Buddhists who undertake certain vows. In a Facebook posting, I came across the picture of a man who after reverting, went through what I suppose is a major transformation in his attire; and it's easy to guess his new religion. Lay Buddhists don't have a specific attire that makes him stand out in a crowd, I suppose ; like they have to cover their face, hands or legs for instance; and I'm not even sure if they are forbidden from wearing sexy, revealing clothes. I wonder though if a man can be judged by his or her attire.
