I suppose these are not new questions; Are Buddhist atheists? or rather Is Buddhism atheistic? Perhaps a writer, Allan Badiner brought the issue of Buddhism and atheism to a higher level when he proclaimed that Buddha himself was an atheist. That's understable since I've read somewhere that Buddha rejected the idea of a creator God. Somewhere too I read that Buddha didn't deny the existence of God or Gods for that matter; in fact in some Buddhist stories, Buddha was portrayed as talking or giving sermons to God. That he rejected the idea of a creator God just means that Gods are not creators; not creators of the universe or of man or other living things. He is not even responsible for the fate that befalls a person. Then, since the religion focuses so much on meditation and mental development, God doesn't really have an important place in it; and perhaps, it is safe to say that it is a non-theistic religion. Then, it matters not too if Buddhism or Buddha himself is atheistic.
Just chill out with this story of an atheist?
