Digesting Dependent Origination
Pratītyasamutpāda and paṭiccasamuppāda are rather big words, overwhelming even. The Sanskrit and Pali words, translated as dependent origination is said to be a key doctrine in all schools of Buddhism. According to this doctrine, all phenomena arise in dependence upon other phenomena. In Samyutta Nikaya, it is stated: When this exists, that comes to be.
