A prominent Malaysian politician said that it is mostly the non-Muslims and non-Bumiputera who chase illicit gains; people he termed as the roots of corruption. Non-Muslims and non-Bumiputera in Malaysia refer mostly to the locally born and bred Chinese and Indians citizens. A police report had been made as his speech was deemed provocative. Probably it wasn't right speech too; at least to Buddhism which requires it to be the truth and non divisive. Even if the politician was not lying since his supporter later claimed it was backed by data, a provocative speech like that drives a wedge between people.
