On May 24, Tina Turner passed away in her home in Zurich, Switzerland. Naturally, a flurry of news followed the demise of the 83-year-old Queen of Rock. While I have read of her being a Buddhist, it was news to me that she believed in the power of chanting. Tina had claimed that chanting gave her the strength to carry on. It is common knowledge that Tina ran away from an abusive first marriage. When she said that she became more confident and less afraid of her ex-husband, I suppose she could have attributed that to chanting. A monk had said: When one is in fear, one can derive strength from chanting.
