The Star paper reported that a 78-year-old Malay woman, Selimah Mat, 78, passed away in Kampung Guar Musang on June 12 and was buried in the village according to Buddhist rites. The Perlis Religious Affairs Department had decided that the deceased was no longer a Muslim at the time of her death although her identity card stated otherwise. Her younger sister, Rokiah Mat, 75, had said that Selimah had married a Buddhist and was non-committal when asked to return to Islam. Selimah had also perform religious activities like other Buddhists in the village temple. Now that her son, Aisok a/l Elan had her buried, can anyone explain what exactly does it mean by a burial according to Buddhist rites?

Sincerely I do not understand too much about it, but I thought it could be interesting in connection with this your post.
I think it has to be about how the 5 elements destroy in the period of the death to make a bilance for the next life.
