There is an old Bodhi Tree in Mahabodhi Temple in Bodhgaya which is the focus of Buddhist pilgrims. The tree is believed to be a direct descendant of the original Bodhi Tree under which the founder of Buddhism, Siddhartha Gautama achieved enlightenment. When I visited Mahabodhi Temple in December 2007, our tour leader told us that the leaves which fall from this particular tree does not get to stay long on the ground they fell. Pilgrims will snap up the leaves immediately. I suppose these leaves have never been objects of devotion. In any case, there should be a better use for these leaves when they are fresh and green. Someone told me that fresh peepal leaves; that is fresh Bodhi leaves can be used to recharge the battery of a mobile phone. One just have to touch the stalk of the leaves on the battery terminal for a minute and lo! You have a miracle! Just do not forget to clean the terminal with a soft cloth before you put the battery back!
