Talking about Ghosts

Just a while ago, Thuan Hee SMSed me. He said that there was a nice program in TV and had suggested that I watched it. It was supposed to be a scary program, something on the Amityville Horror - a movie I had seen in the late 70s. The hit movie was based on a novel by Jay Anson and it was about a couple, George and Kathleen Lutz who with their children moved into a haunted house in Amityville, south of Long Island, New York. A tragedy had occurred in the house thirteen months prior to that. Ronald Defeo, Jr had shot and killed six members of his family. While there, the Lutz had claimed that they had been terrorized by paranormal phenomena such as having their locks, doors and windows damaged by an unseen force, seeing a pair of red eyes looking out from the bedroom window etc...etc and had left after living there for only 28 days. Paranormal phenomena seems to be something that is common in both the western and eastern world. I remember an Australian Buddhist monk, the late Rev.Abhinyana who talked of his experiences when he was in Taiping. Rev. Abhinyana who was born in England claimed to have weird experiences both in England and Australia where he had brushes with ghosts . While he was putting up a night in TBS (Taiping Buddhist Society) near King Edward VII Secondary School, a woman called his name and knocked on his door one night but when he opened the door, there was no one to be seen. His experiences were perhaps not as dramatic as those that occurred in the house in Amityville. One perhaps has to decide for oneself whether ghosts exist or not. In Buddhism there are supposed to be different planes of existence; I thought there are nine in all but someone told me there are 32. I don't really understand this concept but if you believe, then you would like to think that there are planes for human beings and animals, planes that you can see for yourself. For some people too, perhaps they think of ghosts and devas living in their own planes and would believe even if they can't see them. As we already see, there are people who have brushes with ghosts and perhaps, devas too! Talking ghosts, many people are fearful of them. The late Rev. Abhinyana had said that if one were to come in contact with them, the appropriate thing to do is perhaps to send them good thought, wishing them good things and asking them mentally to leave the plane which they do not belong to... Now, what do you think?

We have a hungry ghost in our flat too. It eats all the good things in the fridge and in other places when there is something good to eat. I asked my husband many times who ate these all good things, but he says he knows nothing about it. So we understood that there is a hungry ghost in the house.
