To Help or Not to Help?

There is this Datuk Michael Chong (inset), the Malaysia Chinese Association(MCA) Public Services and Complaints Department head whose job was to help people solve their personal problems. He has helped many but recently a 30-year-old single mother, Norizan Salleh accused him of not helping her when she appealed to him to help pay her a hospital bill of RM19,000. Norizan was admitted to the hospital with five gunshot wounds after police had opened fire at the stolen car which she was travelling in. The two men with her during the incident had been charged for various offences, including obstructing police from carrying out their duties and possession of dangerous weapons. It is a known fact that Buddhists are told to think for themselves. In this case perhaps, one should think or rather, the question is : To help or not to help?
