Short Circuit

Twenty two year old Aussie, Ben McMahon (inset) went into a coma after a car crash. When he woke up, he forgot how to speak English. Instead, he spoke fluent Mandarin! If you are a die-hard Buddhist, you'd probably think that this is sign of rebirth, this being the Buddhist doctrine which suggests that upon death, the body may disappear but a stream of consciousness move on to form the next new body. A neurosurgeon Dr. Pankaj Sah however, thought that it all has to do with the brain, being a mass of electrical circuit and when the Aussie McMahon’s English  circuits were damaged, his Mandarin circuits had become engaged.  Whether this means there is rebirth or not is probably immaterial.  If only we get to learn how to connect our circuits so that we get to do things which we think we are incapable of doing....
