Diseases are many and varied. They can be contagious or non-contiguous, fatal or non-fatal and so on. As for their causes, just as many are caused by external factors as when pathogens like viruses or bacterias invade our bodies for instance; or by internal dysfunctions which I suppose, include the over or under productions of hormones by our endocrine glands. The Father of Medicine; Hippocrates, the Greek physician of the 4th and 5th centuries BCE was of the opinion that diseases are not a visitation of the gods but rather are caused by earthly influences; which I suppose, takes to mean that they are not caused by Gods; perhaps not karma too. I was wondering about the latter when I saw a Facebook post about a Buddhist Centre Sangha telling a man that his illnesses were burning up his karma seeds.
