Just the other day, in a whatsApp group, a member living in Auckland, New Zealand reported that the sky over there became orange as a result of the bushfires in Australia. Australia's native flora like the grass trees will send up large flower spikes to assist in procreation of the species only after a fire duress. That the flora there have evolved to rely on bushfires as a means of reproduction suggests that bushfires have been a common occurrence since time immemorial. Past bushfires impact extensive areas and naturally cause property damage and deaths of people and animals. Only in the recent bushfires had I come across devastating and heart wrenching photos of the animals; kangaroos especially, which were either burned to death while trying to escape a fiery death or which sought help and solace from humans after being injured by the fire. A photo of a pair of kangaroos hugging each other in Facebook had left a rather deep deep impression. If you have watched the eyes of the kangaroo, you'd probably see a human in it. That there is an animal realm in our world is easy to see; but I suppose it is the eyes of humans in an animals that make one wonder about the realms of rebirth.
