Wuhan Miracle

Someone sent a message in a whatsApp group; calling the Wuhan corona virus outbreak a miracle. Several reasons are cited, chief among them are about the Yellow Vest demonstrations in France and the Hong Kong demonstrations. The former, said to be on for more than a year and had caused approximately 4000 injuries, came to an abrupt halt with the arrival of a Wuhan woman and in the latter case, protesters are said to be staying off the street, returning Hong Kong's social order to normal. Then, someone else says the people in Hong Kong until recently were afraid of people wearing masks but all are wearing masks now to the extent that there is not enough masks to go around. Religious zealots in Facebook liken the masks to veils, justifying the need to cover up; never mind that the norm is it's the women who have to conform. I just heard someone saying that the people in Singapore are all given masks to wear; not sure if they are free but pretty sure can guess that it's to prevent one from contracting the virus and to prevent the loss of lives. Thus, here I'm tempted to quote the first Buddhist precept Panatipata veramani sikkhapadam samadiyami I undertake the precept to refrain from destroying living creatures. I was just wondering while the HK protesters have stayed off the streets to stay safe from the corona virus, it's irony that before, there were some who attacked even elderly people and set at least one on fire. One's life should be as valuable as the other's, don't you think?
