Mindful Gym

Mindfulness, the ability to notice our thoughts, feeling and sensations of the moment; I just read, has a Buddhist root. I suppose in Buddhism, mindfulness is cultivated via meditation. In our modern age, mindfulness is deemed a cure-all for mental problems the likes of stress, anxiety and depression. For that purpose too, a local  consultant psychiatrist had come out with a programme of simple self-help exercises called Mindful-Gym. I was thinking if it involves doing strenuous workout using barbells and dumbbells; then it would beat sitting still and cross-legged in the forest or in a quiet room. Think about the added advantage of it developing one's strengths and physique! Then of course, since it's the mind that is to be cultivated, it probably has more to do with mental and simple stretching and breathing exercises.
