A Time to Eat

Eat before seven? I remember attending an event where the emcee was asked to usher the monks to lunch even before the program ended. Monks have a time period to eat.Their day start early; only after a prayer session at six would they be served breakfast; and after lunch, they usually don't eat solid food. Buddhist tradition has it that monks should eat before 12.00 p.m. After that, they could take honey and I read, fruit juices or tea too. It is said that Buddha himself laid down the rule to not eat after lunch partly to reduce the burden on the laity. Then, in the Latukikopama Sutta, the Buddha pointed out the disadvantages of going for alms at night. I just gather something done doesn't necessarily need a scientific reason.
