Someone wrote about stroke patients having fainting spells and falling in the bathroom. The remedy according to a National Sports Council professor is to avoid immediately wetting the head. According to him, one should wet the sole of the foot first, followed by the legs, thigh, abdomen, shoulder and then pause for 5 to 10 seconds before taking the actual bath. Getting the head wet and cold first will cause blood to flow to the head and this in turn will cause narrow blood vessels to rupture. He reasoned that our body is like a glass filled with hot water which will break when emptied and refilled with cold water. A friend said when taking a bath, he usually starts with the shoulder and commented that it would save water compared to if he has started with the sole. I thought people fall because the bathroom is slippery and unlike glasses, our body has a thermostat system that keeps our body temperature constant. Then another friend said a prophet of his religion had actually advised bathing to start from the sole. Then I was wondering if Buddha had prescribed a method for Buddhists to bathe.
