Monk Friendly Diet

Someone who was celebrating Christmas in America had through the social media asked for some recipes; not for want of great food. It was just that his brother’s girlfriend was coming for dinner. The latter was supposed to be a Tao Zen Buddhist; a Buddhist, I suppose; who also happened to pray to Chinese Gods; but I haven't heard yet of such vegetarian who cannot eat just meat but also some forbidden spices of which the host said there were plenty in a traditional American Christmas dinner. Nevertheless, this reminds me of a vegetarian who would always pack her own vegetarian lunch when everyone else was eating from the same menu during outings and another who had no qualms of having the forbidden meat on her plate for she would just remove it and eat what that could be eaten. Theravada monks; I understand have to eat what is offered; meat or no meat and they are not allowed to request. They couldn't possibly trouble well-wishers by asking for monk friendly food, could they?
