Paticca-samuppada Dependent Origination, a fundamental concept of Buddhism says that all things happen through cause and effect and that they are interdependent. Sounds simple enough until I read that it has 12 links or nidanas : Ignorance, Karmic formations, Consciousness, Name and form, Six sense organs, Contact, Sensation, Craving, Grasping, Becoming, Birth and Old age and death.
