Right Understanding in Karma

Someone I know suffered little ailments from time to time and would lament over her bad karma. Some other people may go through other forms of difficulties and will similarly lament, not just moping and making their lives miserable but spoiling the mood of other people around them too. In his book, Opening up to kindness; Ajahn Brahm pointed out that blaming karma for the difficulties in one's life is rather negative. There's nothing wrong with being sick; sickness being a part of life and I suppose that's the same for all the difficulties one is facing too. The British Australian monk was of the opinion that karma should be about making things happen. Karma should be something done now to secure a better future. To cry over past karma would not just spoil the present but create a terrible future. I suppose one should have a right understanding of karma to make it work for us.
