Art, I read can be a powerful way to convey religious feeling. Some religions while never actually promoting art, have devoted followers who in their zeal, express their devotion through artwork. Some other religions probably create a feeling of abhorance for art and followers unconciously are led to destroy artworks especially those of other religions. Atheists who do not believe in God or a higher being, most probably on their own, either love or hate the art created, religious or non-religious, giving credit only where it is due.
