News! : For His Sacrifice

There are two qualities mentioned in the Nikāyas : kataññuta and katavedita. Kataññuta refers to acknowledgement of indebtedness towards others while katavedita, the repaying of such debt. Said to have to do with filial piety, children are encouraged to be grateful to their parents, to take care of them, honor them and do everything they can to repay their gratitude. In the southern Thai province of Nakhon Sri Thammarat, a 27-year-old woman was seen kneeling down in front of her brother during her graduation day in Rajabhat University. Her brother had quit  school so that his sister could pursue her education. Acknowledgement of indebtedness and the repaying of such debt perhaps should extend  to those who act like parents.
