I read that Buddha had a foot cut by a stone splinter when in the Maddakucchi Deer Park at Rajagaha. Then, like any other human, he experienced severe pains described as racking, sharp, piercing, harrowing, disagreeable but he endured them all, mindful and clearly comprehending, without becoming distressed. For this, he has been likened to a naga, a lion, a bull, a thoroughbred, a beast of burden. Then, I was thinking that people during Buddha's time probably did not wear shoes and Buddha must have trekked through Northern India barefoot...
