Buddhist Initiation

Remember seeing someone being baptised once. Then, had thought that Buddhism has no such formal ceremony to initiate people into the Buddhist community like Christianity has baptism or Islam has the shahada for converts. Later, of course I heard of the need to take refuge in the Triple Gem; the Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha; and the ceremony to take a vow to uphold the Five Precepts; to not kill, steal, commit sexual misconduct, refrain from false speech and abstain from the use of intoxicating substances that cause inattention. Perhaps all these would remind of what that matter in Buddhism.
